Organizational structure ・"Kachan Juku" (facility for agricultural experience); Rural life experience ・Suwano (farm restaurant); dishes with rustic flavors
Characteristics of organization My family was engaged in the production of nursery plants but, in 1996, after the end of the "bubble economy," nursery plants did not sell and there was an increaseing number of vacant fields. At that time, I conducted classes in life environmental studies and tought children how to grow sweet potatoes, how to create straw craftwork or how to cook rice using an cast iron cauldron. I still see their energetic smile.
Then, I came across this phrase "Green Tourism" in a magazine and then took the correspondence courses in management, law and practical methodology. When I joined a green tourism project in Germany and France, Mr. Henri Grolleau said to me, "You live within 30 km from the capital. Your success will lead to the revitalization of local areas. I hope you'll be a center to send local information." I couldn't forget his remark. So, in April 1997, I opened up my family's wooded area and fields near the Minuma Paddy within 30 km from the capital and established "Kachan Juku/Farm Inn Sagiyama."
